A Strange Caterpillar

  • Topia Coffee 123 East McMicken Avenue Cincinnati, OH, 45202 United States (map)

Etching of Cincinnati by E.T. Hurley, 1919

About

Wander the Cincinnati hillsides on a lighthearted ramble through Prospect Hill, Mount Auburn, Clifton Heights, and the long-lost Little Bethlehem, where every staircase seems to lead either to a great view or a good story (and occasionally both). This is the kind of hike where you’ll puff your way up city steps once climbed by 19th-century brewery workers, imagine the clatter of incline cars hauling well-dressed residents up the hill for “fresh country air,” and pass crooked old houses that look like they’re politely pretending not to gossip about you. The reward isn’t just the city view at the top, but the small delight of realizing that Cincinnati’s hills have always been just a little bit weird—in the best possible way.

Terrain & Landscape

We’ll walk on Hillside Steps, Sidewalks, Grass, Brick Alleys, and Hiking Paths.
