“The Old Joe Bell” pulled summer cars over Delta and Erie Aves, 1877
About
Join us for a whimsical neighborhood ramble through the hills of Cincinnati, beginning and ending in Mount Lookout. From our gathering spot near the Square, we’ll meander along gently curving residential streets, discovering hidden hillside steps, stone retaining walls, and sweeping ridgeline views that make this corner of the city feel quietly magical. Our route will wander toward the formal gardens and grand pavilion of Ault Park, where manicured landscapes and expansive overlooks offer a dramatic pause above the river valley, and drift through the leafy calm of East Hyde Park’s storybook homes and shaded sidewalks. Along the way, we’ll pass the historic Cincinnati Observatory, whose white domes rise above the treetops as a reminder that even an afternoon stroll can brush up against the cosmos. Expect a moderate, hilly walk of a few miles, plenty of scenic stops, and a playful appreciation for the charm, architecture, and layered landscapes tucked into Cincinnati’s eastern hills.
