Northside’s offbeat charm comes into its own in October. Halloween decorations join the neighborhood’s everyday creativity, and its streets offer plenty of reasons to slow down, look closer, and follow your curiosity.

On this hike, we will explore the homes, business corridors, and quieter corners that give Northside its distinctive character. We will consider how people shape a neighborhood through the places they gather, the things they make, and the personality they bring to shared spaces.

Autumn adds another layer to the walk. Changing leaves and cooler air make familiar streets feel different, inviting us to notice details we might otherwise pass by. Whether you know Northside well or have mostly visited a few favorite spots, this is a chance to push beyond your usual route and discover more of the neighborhood on foot.

Terrain & Landscape

We’ll walk primarily on sidewalks and neighborhood streets, pedestrian paths, with uneven pavement and street crossings along the way.

The hike explores Northside’s residential streets, business district, and nature preserves.

We will start promptly at 10:00 AM in Hoffner Park at the corner of Blue Rock Street and Hamilton Avenue.

What to Bring

Bring your own water, comfortable closed toe shoes, layers for changing autumn weather, and positive energy.
